EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey — Running back Rod Smith tallied 160 scrimmage yards and two total touchdowns as the Dallas Cowboys vanquished the New York Giants 30-10 Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
Smith carried six times for 47 yards and also caught five balls for a game-high 113 yards that also set a new career high. It was also the first multi-touchdown game of his career.
Quarterback Dak Prescott completed 20-of-30 for a career-high 332 yards and three touchdowns.
Receiver Dez Bryant caught Prescott’s first touchdown, a 50-yard catch-and-run, as part of a three-catch, 73-yard effort.
In Eli Manning’s first game back as the Giants starting quarterback, the 36-year-old completed 31-for-46 for 228 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions that Dallas linebacker Sean Lee and safety Jeff Heath each nabbed late in the fourth quarter.
Dallas kicker Dan Bailey had a dismal day as he missed two field goals for the first time since Dec. 18, 2016 and the first time on the road since Dec. 4, 2011. Bailey also missed an extra point, the first of his career after having completed all 273 previous attempts.
On the game’s opening drive, Dallas capped off their longest play of the year, a 16-play drive for 73 yards, with a 21-yard Dan Bailey field goal.
The Giants responded with a 17-play drive, but like the Cowboys, it ended in a field goal try from Alex Rosas to tie the game 3-3 early in the second quarter.
New York took a 10-3 lead with tight end Rhett Ellison catching a 1-yard touchdown pass from Manning on second-and-goal from the Dallas 1-yard line.
The Cowboys answered immediately and tied the game 10-10 on the next drive with Bryant catching a 50-yard touchdown pass from Prescott with 1:47 to go until halftime.
Dallas advances to 7-6 on the season with a Sunday night affair with the Oakland Raiders next week. The Giants slip to 2-11 with a home bout with the Philadelphia Eagles.
