Hall of Fame Wide Receiver Cris Carter sent Cowboys Nation into a tailspin on Monday, but how many teaspoons of salt should we take with his report about Ezekiel Elliott?
Carter appeared yesterday on FS1’s “Undisputed” with Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe (strike one) armed with an apparent bomb regarding Elliott. Plenty of folks who don’t normally watch the show were tuned in, as it had been repeatedly teased on social media that Carter would be unloading new details about Elliott’s possible suspension.
When Carter finally began unloading, it was unclear what new information he was providing, other than some vague hedging about the next 48 hours.
Here is the transcript of Carter’s comments:
“In the next 48 hours, I would be shocked if Zeke was not suspended. Like, I’ll be shocked. Because based on the information that’s going to come out, it’s going to be fairly easy to determine that something happened to this woman in her four days of being with Zeke.
Now we’re not talking about…I mean this is just pure either assault or domestic violence. So I’m being sensitive because there is a victim here, you know so for me this is a – it’s a great opportunity to continue to learn. We’ve learned an awful lot in the last two years dealing with the National Football League and its players being involved in altercations. And there’s been a precedent set, not only on the assault and domestic violence side saying that there would be a minimum six games on that side, but there was a precedent set with the GOAT, in Tom Brady, when they suspended him for on-the-field conduct four games.
So the brightest star that we have in our game, Tom Brady, they suspended him. And when the information comes out, there’s going to be some similarities, as far as what happened. Information that might have – that he had been advised possibly to give up that was destroyed.
So there will be a number of things that will come out that people will be able to determine, not only did something happen, who was the person responsible for that, and the precedent has been set in the league with Tom with a four game suspension.
You know, I don’t what to get into exactly what he’s going to get, but from what I’m hearing, based on those two precedents, it will be in that range.”
So should Cowboys fans be worried? Should they just blow it off as nothing more than attention-seeking garbage? Or does the truth lie somewhere in the middle?
That is our topic today on CowboysCast.
