Dallas fared quite well in this year’s edition, with seven Cowboys making the list. That’s the most Cowboys to make the top 100 since the list’s inception in 2011.

We discussed the results of the list on today’s edition of CowboysCast, but here are some of the big takeaways.

We’re No. 1! We’re No. 1! We’re No. 1!

The seven Cowboys selected to the list were:

87. Travis Frederick
79. Sean Lee
60. Dez Bryant
58. Zack Martin
18. Tyron Smith
14. Dak Prescott
7. Ezekiel Elliott

Frederick, Smith, and Elliott were all the number one ranked players at their position, with Smith coming in as the number one overall offensive lineman. Frederick and Elliott were making their first appearances on the list, while Frederick jumped 24 spots from #42 in 2016.

We’re No. 2! We’re No. 2! We’re No. 2!

Dallas’ seven selections to the NFL Top 100 were the second most in the league. Seattle had eight players selected to this year’s list.

Meteoric Rise

The placements of Prescott and Elliott were both a bit unprecedented. Elliott became the first player to make the list’s top 10 following their rookie season. Prescott’s 14th overall selection is the highest of any quarterback following their rookie season (Prev. Robert Griffin III, #15) and is higher than Tony Romo’s peak selection of #34 in 2015.

In fact, Prescott finished as the fifth ranked quarterback in the NFL, behind only Derek Carr (11) Matt Ryan (10) Aaron Rodgers (6) and Tom Brady (1). Romo’s high watermark in the quarterback rankings was on the same 2015 list, when he entered the season as the eighth-best in the eyes of NFL players.
