Jordy Nelson officially ruled out against Cowboys’s Adam Schefter announced this morning that Green Bay would be without one of their primary targets, but that shouldn’t come as a big surprise if you witnessed the hit to the ribs that wide receiver Jordy Nelson sustained in the Packers win over the Giants last weekend.

Losing Nelson is a critical blow for the Packers, as Aaron Rodgers consistently relies on Nelson as his big play receiver. Since 2012, Rodgers’ numbers significantly decline when Nelson plays fewer than 15 snaps. Rodgers’ passer rating drops 13 points, his yards per attempt fall by a full yard, and his completion percentage dips another five percentage points.
