Cowboys/Texans: Post-Game Quotes

Stephen Jones

On adding a veteran quarterback: “We’ll evaluate everything. Don’t want to commit one way or another, we’ll see where we end up.”

On his expectations for the team: “I really like our football team. Obviously no one’s naïve; when you lose your starting quarterback for some time, that certainly wasn’t in our plans. But other than that, obviously Dak’s emergence makes you feel better about having that happen to you, because there is a lot of optimism for Dak. I think the team has exceeded our expectations here in training camp.”

David Irving

On his performance in Thursday’s preseason finale: “Definitely felt good (early), I wasn’t tired at all at that point. To be honest, if you guys couldn’t tell, I got pretty tired out there. Probably looked like a good game to some people, but I’m getting chewed.”

On his position of choice: “I’m fine anywhere they need me. 3-technique if I ever go in there will be fine, left end is fine for me; hell, if they throw me in nose I’ll play nose and be fine.”

On if there’s any pressure given how thin the defensive line personnel is: “No pressure, really. Obviously it’s harder, we’re all taking more snaps. Sometimes you’ll look for somebody on the sideline to come in, but there’s no one to come in now. But it makes us better, it makes us tougher. “

Lucky Whitehead

On his attitude heading into final cuts: “I feel great. I came out of the game healthy, so that’s a big thing. I feel a lot better than what I did last year at this point; I didn’t know what to expect and it was overwhelming, but I feel good.”

Rico Gathers

On how he felt when the crowd reacted to his catch and run: “I wasn’t paying attention to the crowd, I was just trying to stay up and push for more yardage.”

On if he’s concerned about the final cut: “Not really. I know I worked my tail off. It wasn’t going to be easy for me, and at the end of the day God’s got the last call. At this moment, right now, it’s all in God’s hands, so I’m not really worried about the cuts.”
